About Julia Ferrari
Julia Ferrari obtained her Ph.D in Developmental Psychology and Education from OISE. She is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers. Julia teaches courses at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Special Education and Response to Intervention.
Over the last three years, Julia has worked on teacher professional development initiatives, in various Northern Ontario communities, in which she developed literacy curriculum content as well as ongoing support to teachers. She has also developed educational content on best practices in literacy instruction for the Balanced Literacy Diet website (litdiet.org).
Julia’s expertise is the strategic use of progress monitoring to match instruction to learners needs. She has extensive experience planning and implementing interventions for struggling students and using progress monitoring assessments to ensure instruction is adequately meeting students’ needs.
